Strengthening Higher Education Access in Malawi Activity (SHEAMA)
Increasing access to work-relevant higher education in Malawi
Our partners
SHEAMA is implemented with consortium partners: Overseas Strategic Consulting, Malawi public universities — University of Malawi, Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Malawi University of Science and Technology, Mzuzu University and the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences — and local industries. SHEAMA promotes co-design among partners to ensure relevant, high-quality, accessible, adaptable and sustainable courses and programs.
Focus areas
Higher education access
SHEAMA increases access to education for adolescent girls and young women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable and other disadvantaged youth.
Open, distance and e-learning
SHEAMA’s five university partners are sharing resources to provide open and distance e-learning through online devices and satellite locations.
Workforce development
Industry-driven and designed courses and certificates prepare graduates for self-employment through in-person and distance learning.
